Working on prepping the performance for this weekend’s video shoot… been rehearsing for the past few weeks; here’s a quick snippet of the concept.

I’ll be doing a live remix / cover of this tune. Anyone recognize it?

I posted a new YouTube Video! A sketch orchestration of Chopin Prelude in E Minor using Sibeilus’ internal sounds. I hope to do a full rendering using the Vienna Symphonic Library in the future. This demo orchestration was inspired by the original piano score.

This is a bonus video - not the one I promised I am making to celebrate ~~175,000~~ 177,000 hits on YouTube. I’m recording that this weekend hopefully!

“My different drummer, he play the timpanis” Lupe Fiasco. Either he has no idea that timpani is already plural (probablly/maybe) or he just dropped the most AWESOME metaphor with a hint of really nerdy music theory. “Different drummer” - saying “timpanis”. Get it?

Tomorrow I head to Bard College to see Beethoven Symphony No. 4 and No. 5. I’ve been heading down to Bard this season for their two year celebration of Beethoven’s Symphonies, where they are being played in order, 1-9. Coincidentally, I undertook a major research project on these works and have spent a great deal of time buried in the scores.

The concert hall reminds me of the senate scene from Star Wars… at first interior, but after I researched it, the exterior as well! See what you think:

At any rate, the acoustics are superb. I’ve enjoyed good seats, a respectful and quite audience, great conducting and superb performances!

Trivia? I can hit every note in this video. I can also hit an Eb 2 octaves below middle C.

I might do a YouTube cover of this song if I can get the backing track.

What I’m hoping to do in the next few months is improve my vocal technique and bridge the ranges so they’re both smooth in transition and equally powerful.

More trivia? Dolly Parton wrote this song. Even more trivia? Elvis wanted to record it, but Elvis’s manager wanted a cut of the publishing and writing credit as Elvis got on ALL of the songs he recorded, whether he contributed to them or not - and Dolly said no.

On Saturday, I’m going to see Itzhak Perlman at Proctors in Schenectady. It’s been a few months since I’ve been to both Schenectady and Proctors. I have third row seats. I’m quite excited.

Hopefully Perlman will be playing the Soil Stradivarius, widely consider one of the best violins ever made. Crafted in 1714, this alone is worth the price of admission for me. To hear it in the hands of a master musician, here in my backyard - Schenectady, NY - is amazing.

Earlier this year, I had a chance to hear Joshua Bell play his Strad at EMPAC / RPI.

These are the sorts of concerts that make your jaw drop.
